Rain Post staff supplier, Rain II, has gone into administration 18 months after the facility opened for business.
Rain II Ltd, which was set up in May last year, was put into administration last week resulting in the redundancies of up to 15 staff.
Rain Group chief operating officer Anish Anand described Rain II as an “employment services” company that supplied staff to the group.
Anand told Broadcast that “10 to 15” people working across all areas of the business had been made redundant by Rain II.
“[Administration] was a commercial decision made by the parent company,” he said, adding that the main business remained unaffected by the closure of the subsidiary.
Anand denied industry speculation that the post firm had ceased trading.
“Our doors are still open and we are still doing business,” he said. “We are hiring more staff, we are about to announce the appointment of a new managing director and we are looking at an acquisition.”
Rain’s 4,500 sq ft Soho facility on Lower James Street, London, housed some 25 staff when it launched in August 2011 with the aim of securing low- to medium-end feature films, broadcast, short-form and corporate work.
The London branch was touted as the first phase of a projected £10m investment that would also include facilities in Manchester, the US and Canada.
