IBC 2016: A record number of people attended the Amsterdam exhibition and conference as the number of exhibitors at the show also continued to rise.
According to figures supplied by IBC, 55,796 visitors and exhibitors attended the show, which closed yesterday.
That was a rise of 668 attendees compared with 2015, when 55,128 attended the RAI.
The number of companies exhibiting at IBC also continued to grow, as it has every year since at least 2010.
This year, the figure stood at “over 1,800” exhibitors - 249 of which were exhibiting at IBC for the first time.
Last year, there were 1,678 companies showing their wares at the RAI.
IBC chief executive Michael Crimp said: “IBC really is the only forum that attracts a global audience, the most comprehensive exhibition, and the best thought-leaders to spark the debate.”
Across the five days of conferences, panel discussions and key notes, 435 speakers took part in more than 100 sessions.
“This year they included Sir Martin Sorrell on the global future for advertising, Erik Huggers on online broadcasting, and Ang Lee on the new realism that the latest technology brings movie-makers,” added Crimp.
“But IBC, above all else, is about bringing people together to share knowledge and to do business. It is clear, from the buzz around the whole show, that this has been a great year.”
